Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Or more appropriately, the gown worn by Her Royal Highness Princess Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

I must say, Kate's wedding dress was absolutely beautiful! Very elegant, understated and totally modern. I've never been a big fan of long trains, however the proportions of the garment seemed perfect.  What immediately caught my attention was the detailing of English & French Chantilly lace accents on the bodice of the gown.  The romantic details mastered with a touch of modernity assures a timeless appeal.

I'm not surprised to hear that this was designed by Sarah Burton from the House of Alexander McQueen. This couture house has a reputation of delivering beautiful poetic pieces and incredible gowns.... much like a fairy tale blended with a modern touch.

It was wonderful to be swept away by the enchanted romance for a few hours, but brides-to-be shouldn't fret....I'm sure the copies are being stitched ASAP.

Best Wishes to William & Kate!

Color Vibe

I love classics, but sometimes a hint of boho verve' can transform the purest esthetic.  A burst of jewelry in peacock colors can indeed be a showstopper.

Beautiful jewelry from the art brigade:

Sometimes you want to live colorfully....let me know what look inspires you!

Kaleidoscope of colors

One peek into my closet would confirm my love for black.  Well, spring is here and summer is around the corner....so let's spin the color wheel!

Wearing vibrant hues can add fashion shock to your wardrobe.  I've always believed that mixing unexpected colors and prints can lift your spirits as well as your style.  Just remember that even though wild colors can be beautiful....simple shapes are easiest to wear.

I like these looks:

This could be a style moment....color me chic!

If The Shoe Fits

Another word of advice for quality foot time....watch out for designer shoes that have slightly different size for the length of a shoe.  You may have to make a size adjustment.  For example, a few years ago I purchased a beautiful black Chanel Pump.  Needless to say I felt like one of cinderella's stepsisters...you know the girls who couldn't fit the shoe!  They were a size 9....I wear an 8.5 or 9, however those beauties became shorter by the minute.  I gladly passed them down to my sis...who wears an 8.  Ladies, for some reason we often CLAIM we wear the smaller size, but in all honesty no one really knows but the shoe salesman!

On that note, at this very moment I'm wearing a pair of Ferragamo croc loafers.....size 9.5.... they feel so good!

Here is a sample from my shoe collection.  These shoes range from size 8.5 to 9.5.

I love shoes, but trust me....one that feels good is priceless!

Flat and Chic

We've all been there....wearing shoes that are so pretty but often so cruel. If runway models can slip and fall on the catwalk, my guess is that 5" or 6" heels may be lethal to the average fashionista. I love towering shoes, however I've learned the hard way that wearing a shoe that dishes out cruel and unusual punishment can ruin your day....or night. Nothing is worse than a Diva spotted crawling to her car due to foot torture or ending the day at home with a broken leg.

So ladies my advice to you is to take some emergency measures and a find a few hot and attractive shoes that don't require a balancing act. Some of us may think that flat or lower heeled shoes are not very sexy or cute, but I beg to differ. You just have to look. And frankly I've found some really great finds. My strategy is to carry a pair in the car, wear them when walking a long distance (shopping for example), or whenever the desire hits me to give my feet a break but still feel cute in the process.

Come on Darlings look at these:

Comfy Shoes

Comfy Shoes by daisys girls featuring ballet shoes

These shoes would stand out in any crowd!  Low on heels....Hi on chic!  However if you must....feast your eyes on the eye catcher on the bottom...they are cute!

I love these shoes!  I hope my daughter buys them, so I can borrow ....but not for shopping!

Baubles, Bangles, and Beads!

Baubles, bangles, and beads! They come in such a large assortment....totally parallel to the clothes we choose to wear. Jewelry can take on a form of body art....especially those beautiful statement pieces. Also don't forget that "pearls" resonate timeless appeal, think of Coco Chanel.

More recently I've noticed women wearing jewelry so magnificent that their clothes were instantly elevated to a more polished look. I've worn beautiful pieces, but quite reasonably priced...., they don't shout "cheap... cheap...cheap!"

Here is a peek of some of my personal favorites...purchased from retail and resale shops.

These jewelry pieces look incredibly well with even the most pared down wardrobe choices...it's never business as usual!

Don't Forget to Accessorize!

After getting dressed, usually accessories will be your next step. This is always the fun part! In all honesty depending on your mood or taste....an ordinary wardrobe can be transformed instantly with a little inspiration. You may achieve a certain look or fantasy simply by mixing pieces....such as classic, edgy, bohemian, romantic, rock & roll, minimalistic or what ever you like. Jewelry is my passion....I love to collect it and love wearing it! It serves to make a strong connection between me and the clothes. Two women may enter a room wearing the same dress, but rarely will they be adorned identically. Choosing costume or fine jewelry will compliment your attire and make a personal statement.

For example let's look at these pieces: Photobucket
In British Vogue (Sept. 2010 issue) Marc Jacobs states "Real women always wear jewellery (jewelry)." History also reminds us that jewelry was born as a symbol of wealth. This is no longer the case! Jewelry has taken its place in fashion culture by reflecting creativeness and style.
