Crayon Mood: Accessories!

The colorful mood continues, however accessories are the focus.  Vibrant jewelry, embellished handbags, Skittle colored gloves, scarfs, shades, and noticeable shoes, quite anecdotal for winter blues.  Of course, I have a fondness for simple chic clothes, however colorful accessories can promote incredible style, and allow a little creativity to flourish.  A good idea would be to have fun with a little color....it may be the punch for a knock out look!

My colorful accessories:

Lady like and oh so chic!  Definitely cool with a black coat!
Green Shades....so unexpected!
Colorful Fedora....old school glam
Beautiful Bracelets - All Xmas gifts (From my sis, daughter and daughter in-law)
Indian Inspiration in Turquoise ( My grandson chose these for me!)
Unique Earrings -  Kenneth Jay Lane (R)  Swarovski Crystals (L)  (Both, gift from daughter),  Beautiful green necklace,   gift from my niece - From her very own boutique collection  "Classy Trenz"

Very eye catching!
Color blocked shoes! (My daughter gave these to me!)
Vintage piece purchased from Jacobson's! Beautifully colored stones!
Blue & Gold Brooch ....a touch of elegance!( gift from my sister)
Motif & color crazed scarfs
A crayon box is not complete without red!
Is it really winter?....I can't tell!

Parisian Chic: The Hermes Scarf

My Uncle once told me that if he could have foreseen my fondness for Hermes Scarfs, he would have bought me one years ago when he was stationed in France during WWII.  Of course I wasn't yet born, however I would have loved to have had a beautiful Hermes scarf waiting for me before I became a student of the fashionably chic.

As a Neiman Marcus sales associate selling Hermes luxury goods, I had the opportunity to closely examine the beauty of the scarf's mystique.  There have been approximately 2,000 designed since the first one made its debut in 1937.  It's regarded by some as one of the most elegant accessory you could wear.  Trust me, there are many beautiful scarfs one could own, however an Hermes scarf has the elegance of hand painted art on silk twill.  Each one has its own namesake, hand rolled borders, colors dyed to unique perfection, and if purchased ....carefully placed in a chic orange box.   I can vividly remember the scarves being perfectly folded in glass cases for a potential buyer's view.  Many of the scarfs tell a story, and have been worn by royalty (Princess Grace of Monaco) as well as the rich & famous.

The Hermes scarf has a rich heritage of French History and it continues to be beautifully made just as they were many years ago.  If you have a love for art, the feel for silk, and the desire for a luxury brand item, save your money and buy yourself an Hermes Scarf. (Or drop a big hint for this luxurious item if someone is feeling generous!)  You'll love wearing it or you may want to frame it for your wall.  After some time, you may decide to pass it down to a loved one.  Hopefully they will appreciate the wonderful item that you have saved for them, as I certainly would have treasured an Hermes scarf from my beloved Uncle!

What to wear - What to Store

What's in, and what's out, is the usual fashion buzz for a new season.  However I like to think that nothing is completely out unless you just hate it. Fall has provided a landscape of many themes and of course fashion is forever changing, but often it is a revolving door.   In that sense, I like to think of wearing things now, and storing things for later.  Remember this season's outcast.... may be next year's hot trend!

Let's view a few fashion changes:

1.  Store your short dresses - Wear a longer pencil sheath dress slightly below the knee.

2.  Store your plain sweaters - Wear a vibrant stripe or black & red.

3.  Store your shiny tight pants - Wear a pair of ultra glam menswear slacks or wide leg pants.

4.  Store some of your solids -Wear a graphic or artistic motif.

5.  Store your heavy platforms - Wear a ladylike pump or Slingback.

6.  Store your cropped jacket - Wear a tailored pantsuit with a slightly longer jacket.

7.  Store your turtleneck sweater -Wear a bulky trimmed sweater.

8. Store your understated dress - Wear a vibrant print or tribal motif dress.

9.   Store a your blazer - Wear a faux fur sweater

10.  Think of any excuse to dress up!

Most of all infuse some glamour....let it begin with red lips!

Everyone loves a great party!  For one, it gives me a chance to style-watch at evening events and see what my friends and others are wearing.  It's always fun to get dressed-up (and to receive compliments!) It is also exciting to compliment others as they arrive to a gala looking beautiful from head to toe!

Take a look at a few party pics from some recent special occasions:

A white suit is always a winner!  The detail of the jacket has sequin trim -very pretty!

Late Post: Fashion Night Out!

The first week in September ushered in the excitement of a Fall Season event.  It's called "Fashion Night Out."  Not surprisingly, it was launched two years ago in New York.  This event applauds the fashion designers, while offering retailers a chance to promote the new season.  Guests enjoy a fashion show and a few refreshments....all provided with a hint of "red carpet".

My daughter and I attended "Fashion Night Out," hosted by Neiman Marcus (Somerset Collection in Troy MI). We had a great time and indeed, I took a few nice pics:
